This company is telling those that come in & try to redeem their card that the balance is zero, likely having the customer tell the cashier to dispose of the card although come to find out (after series of calls to corporate office) the funds WERE on the card but now the card is no longer available so after 3 weeks of calls & research, a rep now says that they can not reissue another card with the balance that was lost, leaving you screwed out of your original refund amount. If they do this once or twice a day....they have eliminated hundreds if not thousands of credit being redeemed.

They are unethical & unprofessional & our local news will be made aware of this immediately by me. This is outrageous & will be made very public asap

Military Discount? Maybe Yes, Maybe No!

Purchased several items at Lake Mary, Florida, store on 22 Nov 2017. Ask cashier if company offered a military discount (as does stores such as Lowe's and Home Depot).

Cashier stated military discount was only offered for the the first two weeks of the month. This is a poor and stupid policy at best and disrespects military members. Last time I will shop Academy Sports. Being a member of the VFW and American Legion I will pass this information on to both organizations for distribution to members .

Active duty and retired military members support those who support us. Academy Sports maybe yes, maybe no policy, Dumb.

We military members do not have any expectation upon any store to give us a discount. The fact you feel entitled to one and respond with such venom at feeling disrespected embarrasses the majority of us that are grateful when we receive a discount. You have your right to take your business elsewhere and demand your privilege be honored, but you make us all look ridiculous in the process.

AGREE! The Academy in Austin and Round Rock only honor a military discount on Veteran's Day.

I guess that is the only day they appreciate their freedom. We go to Cabela's and Bass Pro even though they are more expensive, they are respectful.

They did a military discount at the beginning of November. It’s not an ongoing policy, but it was heavily advertised for the first two weeks of November. You’re not really entitled to a discount anyway, so what’s the problem?

I'd have more sympathy for you if you would have refrained from using such terms as "stupid" "dumb" and "disrespect" ( a ghetto made up slang piece ).

Next time learn the policy before you march in somewhere and "disrespect" some poor slob working for peanuts at a crummy sporting goods store.

I doubt it does. Asking for a simple 10% off is the least any company can do for active and retired military members putting their lifes on the line for these “poor slobs” like you said.

Man American people take for granted everything now a days. What a joke.

Awfully discussing

Been trying to buy a pellet grill 820 pit boss very discussed, web site shut down their computer wouldn't accept my card, my card company said everything is good here manager from Academy Sports was supposed to contact me many days ago Nothing what poor communication the price of the grill last week $399.00+sh this week $499.00 +sh they said would honor last week's price when I called this week no way this place is a joke don't buy anything from them average wait on the phone was 35 to 40 minutes

POOR Customer Service

I visited the Academy Store on Airline Hwy. in Baton Rouge, LA around noon on November 7, 2017 to purchase a Garmin GPS/Depth Finder. After 30 minutes and several inquiries to the very busy gentleman behind the gun counter, no assistance. He even called for another store representative to help... still no assistance. Needless to say, I walked out very upset. All l needed for was for a store representative to open one of the locked glass cases so I could get to the product that I wanted to purchase. This is one of the worst cases of customer service that I have experienced. Totally unacceptable.

Canceled orders with no explanation

3 orders were placed and they were all canceled with no explanation. When called, I was told by the first rep that it may be lack of inventory or billing issues with the method of payment used.

I checked online and all items registered in-stock. Following this I called the bank of the card and was told that these charges were authorized from their end and that the money was there for academy to take. The bank institution used was from American Express which has the high reputation of being reliable and responsible as I have never ever had any issues with them. When I called academy back to let them know, GiGi (a male rep) told me that after consulting another department, that the issues were with their bank verification.

I asked him why not notify the buyer in order to verify before canceling all orders and he rudely told me that he did not have to let me know how they verified and told me in a nasty way that if i was sure that it was not a bank issue then to just place the orders again. I specifically told him that my state is under a hurricane advisory and that I didn't have the luxury to wait. I also told him that this was horrible customer service. Rep could care less of my opinion and the circumstances.

I wasted approximately 2 hours between the first call and the last one to get nowhere. These are first item necessities I was ordering in case of an emergency and academy.com failed to me as a consumer. What a waste of my time and what a huge dissappointment.

This was the first time I ordered and will certainly be the last. I will make sure to let others know of this horrible experience I had so that they search elsewhere for good customer service and a reliable people friendly place for their needs.

Bad customer service when call 888922****

Been trying to get thru for several days had a merchandise credit it pulled up the balance once then the day was going to use it wanted to make sure had the correct about before going there so check it again and it said had to call the 888 number after waiting for about 45 minutes finally someone answered just wanted to know why it said had to call in when the other day it was fine just making sure of the amount. Well the lady that answered the phone on 12/5/17 at 8:53pm est at the 888922**** number was rude, unprofessional, made me never want to shop at Academy Sports again terrible customer service. Just wanted to verify the amount of the card very simple request I hope someone hire up sees this and does something about this employee rude attitude towards customers. Thank you.

Ordered item online wrong item sent

I ordered an under armour hunting mask and they sent a magellan mask. After reaching out for support they said they sent you that mask because they were out of stock with the other mask. Options was to get refund or drive an hour to return mask.

Don’t honor other adds

Went to store in Denham spring la. Showed add they were rude and said cabela didn’t have any. Went to cabelas had plenty. Tell John Assistant manger he can keep his product. Will do all I can to keep all my associates away from your store. And do all I can to hurt your business. Loss customer!!!!

Refused to honor my Gift Card!!

I made a return to a local store and they gave me a Gift Card in return. Roughly a month later I tried to use the provided gift card. When I tried to check out I THEY did not associate my name or ID # with the gift card. Then I was told that all the funds were unavailable and that there was no further resolution. I made the return myself, I had in my possession the original receipt as well as the credit receipt. They refused me any relief and hung upon me. I believe they think I am a thief. Thats how they treated me. Even though I have all the documents. Preposterous!!!! They will have to tell it to the judge!!

Unorganized and uninformed employees

So the Astros win the World Series that’s great. But you CANNOT shut down the whole store and make EVERYONE wait in line. I didn’t want or need anything Astros. It’s opening weekend and I needed some hunting gear. I even CALLED to make sure I wouldn’t have to wait in some long line and was told I wouldn’t have to. I get there and was told I had to wait. WTH. First inform your employees. 2nd put that stuff in a segregated area or do a tent sale so that it doesn’t disrupt the rest of the shoppers. Get it together ACADEMY!!!!

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

I should have known that when I placed an order with them for first time for Christmas and there was issues, there's always be an issue with online ordering through Academy.... they did send a $20 promo code for online. I figured, it was worth it. No, it wasn't. I've tried purchasing several items for it to yank it from my cart last minute saying it's unavailable. After live chat and calling customer service, I still dont have the item I want. One woman said we have it. Another, after a 40 minute call ... mostly sitting on hold because my promo wasn't a real promo - but worked when applied online ... she tells me oh it wont work because the scooter isn't available. ... won't price match. won't try to work with me. I will NEVER order from Academy or purchase from them. If they dont care anymore about their customers.

Poor customer service

This route has tolls. Home Get on Sam Rayburn Tollway from Main St and TX-121 N 6 min (2.2 mi) Continue on Sam Rayburn Tollway to Plano.

Take the exit toward Spring Creek Pkwy/Windhaven Pkwy from Dallas North Tollway S 5 min (5.0 mi) Follow Dallas Pkwy to your destination 5 min (1.6 mi) I have shopped here for many years but this year the service within the hunting and fishing area has been strange. I have seen customers walk up after me and I hear "May I help you". Twice in 2 weeks no service unless I ask.

Bad store experience

I when in academy sport in Greenboro, nc., 4526 W. Wendover. This is a new store in our city. I was there to purchase two hand guns. There to sale person at the counter, after looking at the guns for about 5 to 7 mintues no I one came assist me. There were two sales person at the other end of the counter engaged in their own conversation. So i walked down to them and asked if could get some assistance. They came but was not able assist me fully. They called another sale name Caleb who was not the most pleasant person to help anyone. His attitude was not good at all. I gave a NO answer to one question and was not able to purchase the gun. I felt like the question was not clear. But that is not reason for writing. I am writing becaues Caleb needs some classes on how to make people feel great about coming into the store. I will never come back in this store again because I wouldn't treat my enemy this way. I am a pastor and becsuse i am care taker of God's people i will also tell them not go to academy outside sport for anything. No one should be treated this way when i am willing to spend money with you. Oh did i said that i was going purphase 2 guns, but not now. I also have witness who was with me and speak to all that i am speaking of. People behind the counter need to understand that when we come to spend money it means job security for them.

Won't refund $455.00 after receiving my return

Ordered a bike from academy sports which arrived damaged. I returned the bike and tracking shows academy received the bike.

Refund was promised 7 to 10 days later. After waiting 17 days for my refund I called Academy and they said they'd submitted a refund on July 17 through PayPal and said I should contact PayPal to find out what was wrong. I contacted PayPal and they assured me that academy had not refunded the money. I contacted Academy again and this time I was told that the refund was sent through PayPal on july 23rd.

As of today july 26 I still have no refund. These people are running a scam.

I've opened a case through PayPal and still hope I can get a refund. Do not buy from this company.

Take the bike in to any Academy Sports Store and you will get a refund immediately. Academy takes exchanges and refunds with very little trouble to the purchaser.

First of all, I was in an accident that claimed 60% of my hearing. - I walked in Academy and this man asks me something about saving money on a purchase. I simply asked, "how?" He sat there, dead silence, staring me down and sarcastically said, "What do you mean lady? I just told you!!" I said, "I apologize, sir. I'm very hard of hearing and I didnt hear what you said." Then he had the audacity to harrass me about applying for an Academy credit card. When I declined, he made fun of me. The conversation ended when I told him that he was rude and I walked off. REALLY ACADEMY?? It will be a cold day in *** before I ever walk into your store again. ***'s is a better store anyway!!
