This company is telling those that come in & try to redeem their card that the balance is zero, likely having the customer tell the cashier to dispose of the card although come to find out (after series of calls to corporate office) the funds WERE on the card but now the card is no longer available so after 3 weeks of calls & research, a rep now says that they can not reissue another card with the balance that was lost, leaving you screwed out of your original refund amount. If they do this once or twice a day....they have eliminated hundreds if not thousands of credit being redeemed.
They are unethical & unprofessional & our local news will be made aware of this immediately by me. This is outrageous & will be made very public asap
Military Discount? Maybe Yes, Maybe No!
Purchased several items at Lake Mary, Florida, store on 22 Nov 2017. Ask cashier if company offered a military discount (as does stores such as Lowe's and Home Depot).
Cashier stated military discount was only offered for the the first two weeks of the month. This is a poor and stupid policy at best and disrespects military members. Last time I will shop Academy Sports. Being a member of the VFW and American Legion I will pass this information on to both organizations for distribution to members .
Active duty and retired military members support those who support us. Academy Sports maybe yes, maybe no policy, Dumb.

Canceled orders with no explanation
3 orders were placed and they were all canceled with no explanation. When called, I was told by the first rep that it may be lack of inventory or billing issues with the method of payment used.
I checked online and all items registered in-stock. Following this I called the bank of the card and was told that these charges were authorized from their end and that the money was there for academy to take. The bank institution used was from American Express which has the high reputation of being reliable and responsible as I have never ever had any issues with them. When I called academy back to let them know, GiGi (a male rep) told me that after consulting another department, that the issues were with their bank verification.
I asked him why not notify the buyer in order to verify before canceling all orders and he rudely told me that he did not have to let me know how they verified and told me in a nasty way that if i was sure that it was not a bank issue then to just place the orders again. I specifically told him that my state is under a hurricane advisory and that I didn't have the luxury to wait. I also told him that this was horrible customer service. Rep could care less of my opinion and the circumstances.
I wasted approximately 2 hours between the first call and the last one to get nowhere. These are first item necessities I was ordering in case of an emergency and academy.com failed to me as a consumer. What a waste of my time and what a huge dissappointment.
This was the first time I ordered and will certainly be the last. I will make sure to let others know of this horrible experience I had so that they search elsewhere for good customer service and a reliable people friendly place for their needs.

Poor customer service
This route has tolls. Home Get on Sam Rayburn Tollway from Main St and TX-121 N 6 min (2.2 mi) Continue on Sam Rayburn Tollway to Plano.
Take the exit toward Spring Creek Pkwy/Windhaven Pkwy from Dallas North Tollway S 5 min (5.0 mi) Follow Dallas Pkwy to your destination 5 min (1.6 mi) I have shopped here for many years but this year the service within the hunting and fishing area has been strange. I have seen customers walk up after me and I hear "May I help you". Twice in 2 weeks no service unless I ask.

Bad store experience
Won't refund $455.00 after receiving my return
Ordered a bike from academy sports which arrived damaged. I returned the bike and tracking shows academy received the bike.
Refund was promised 7 to 10 days later. After waiting 17 days for my refund I called Academy and they said they'd submitted a refund on July 17 through PayPal and said I should contact PayPal to find out what was wrong. I contacted PayPal and they assured me that academy had not refunded the money. I contacted Academy again and this time I was told that the refund was sent through PayPal on july 23rd.
As of today july 26 I still have no refund. These people are running a scam.
I've opened a case through PayPal and still hope I can get a refund. Do not buy from this company.
