Adam was awesome, Brandon was not!

I just came from the Chattanooga TN store looking for some hiking boots for a special hiking trip that my husband is taking me for my B-Day. I saw some lightweight, waterproof, and super discounted ones on display but the display was the only pair left from what Adam said and he tried very hard to find the matching pair for me but told me that tonight was his first night in the shoe department and he was going to find Brandon that actually worked there. Long story short- Brandon acted like he could have cared less about finding me the missing boot and Adam actually came back to check on me and if I had any luck getting my boot and when I said no, he looked in the same place Brandon had looked and found the boot! Adam went out of his way and made it a mission to find my "glass slipper"! Thank you Adam! Brandon, you should take a lesson from Adam.

Horrible on-line experience

On August 6th, I ordered a college flag. After not receiving the order after two weeks, I called Customer Support.

I was told the order was sent to Page, AZ and not Panama City, FL. I was told the order would be going out that day. After several days and no package, I called Customer Support and was told the new order was never placed. I was told the newest order would be overnight shipped to my house and I should have it in two days.

Overnight?

2 days? If you can't get a simple flag shipped, how can anyone expect to receive an order with more than one item.

Father's Day sale

They advertised a Taurus PT111 9mm pistol and get a get a 22 heritage revolver free. Me and my buddies all head to academy after work to find that they are all sold out and that they quit signing the rain checks at 4:00pm.

Already reached the 5,000 limit. So if I didn't work then I could have bought as many as I wanted. But someone who works every day and rushes over after a hard day to spend some of their hard earned money is SOL.

But all is LEGAL with your "while quantities last" statement. That still doesn't make it right!

I agree. Brother was told each store only got 32 of the packages to sell.

5 day sale and you can't make it out of the first day without selling out. Bad business.

Tarus pistol Ad

So i called the Academy sports in hoover bama to see if they have the tarus 9m and get a 22 revolver for free at the price of $289. They said no but we are issuing rain checks.

I ask for how long will you be doing the rain checks. He said all the way through june the 20th. This was a Thursday so i get over there first thing Saturday. No we are out.

Ok i would like a rain check. No we are out. So i talk to a manager who said yeah we cant get you a rain. We are out of gun.

So i called corporate and i was told that the Birmingham store has it. So does the Trustville location. Thank you. So i called both stores and guess what.

We dont have it. I felt like i was lied to from the beginning all the way through the whole disappointing experience. So i drive to Marks Outdoors in hoover. Guess what.

They have the same gun for $199 but no free 22 revolver. Thats a $90 saving for this nice 9mm. Yeah i bought it. Your revolvers is not free and you lied to me.

I will always thank twice before entering a academy sports. Might not ever.

I can't imagine Academy didn't provide a credit if this was handled promptly. In the end, this is difficult for retailers, as your story as presented would primarily be caused by another customer returning used shoes!

Could/should the retailer catch this, possibly...but your issue is caused by another customer taking advantage of the retailer. Difficult but unfortunate.

Returned items to academy sports and they put my refund on a merchandise credit card (231.34) and went to use the card 2 days later and there was no money on it...

Very Poor Experience

I ordered a treadmill from Academy online. During the purchase, I received free shipping and all seemed well. My treadmill arrived in a timely manner however, the delivery driver wouldn't bring it up to my apartment unless I assisted him. What was going to happen had I refused to move a 150+ lb treadmill up two flights of stairs because the delivery company planned poorly. I brought this up to a customer service rep via the 800 number. The woman told me that wasn't academy's fault because they contract out delivery. After repeated attempts online and via 800 number, I found out that Academy contracts out to Ceva, who then contracted out to a local delivery place. Where's the accountability and standards? I got told, your email will be forwarded and we will look into it. Well, moving on, I open the box....it requires two people to put together. I wasn't aware of that when Academy offered Assembly assistance. So I asked about that, another $82. Since the delivery to my parking lot wasn't up to my satisfaction Academy said they'd split half of the cost for assembly before tax, so $37.50, or I could return the product for a full refund. Really? Why not pay for the assembly in full? You'd rather lose $500 and a customer vs paying for assembly and putting up information on your website to inform customers why delivery is free? This is the worst experience. I'm staring at a box with a treadmill I cannot afford to put together, but oh, yes, I was offered a 20% off future purchases promo code. I mean really????

Preferred solution: inform the consumers of what delivery means, ie to your parking lot only, and that assembly may require more than one person, or how about offer to assemble it and not refund the whole thing

Fraudulent charge on my credit card...Academy dropped the ball

My debit card was compromised and used to make a purchase from Academy.com. I caught the charge as it was "pending" to my account.

I called my bank and they told me to call Academy. I did. I was put on hold forever. When the rep returned, she said, "That item is out for delivery on a UPS or FedEx truck (she couldn't specify which) but I will call the driver right now and ask him to return the item to us at which time we will issue you a credit." I said, "Wait, no, I did not order the item.

This is a fraudulent charge and I want to be refunded immediately." She said, "Let me check with the driver and I will call you right back." That was 5 hours ago. I call b.s.

This same issue happened to me ACADEMY.COM MADE AN UNAUTHORIZED charge of $85.99 to my bank, I call the bank and they gave me a credit of the $85.99 while they investigate I just got a letter from bank saying that the store has send them prove of my transaction and ir was delivered to my address,

This is BS I didn't even know academy. Com existed until now that they have charge my account. Know I don't know what to do i am lost at this point

Online shopping experience horrors!

My husband ordered three items on Black Friday and paid for the order using Pay Pal. Part of the order arrived and after two weeks, I called to check on the remaining items on the order.

First phone call with Academy after a 25 minute wait time, was that there was an issue receiving the payment from Pay Pal, even though the first item had not issue. I called Pay Pal and logged into our account online. I could see the pending payment to Academy had been approved and was assigned a transaction number. Pay Pal said that they had authorized payment and so had our underlying American Express card and they were waiting for Academy to process the order and get the money.

Second phone call to Academy after another 20 minute wait time, am told that they were behind on shipping some Black Friday orders. I mentioned what I was told during the first call and she verifies that was indeed the case. Pay Pal had said all they needed was for Academy to do was run the order again and it would pay. The person at Academy told me she was going to talk to a supervisor and call me back.

She did call me back and told me the supervisor was cancelling our order because they hadn't gotten the payment and they would not try to run it again. I explained that I didn't feel this was fair because I hadn't received any notification of an issue with the order and now they were just going to cancel it. I also explained we had ordered at a Black Friday price and I didn't want to be penalized for a system glitch. She said she would talk to the supervisor again and call me back and see if they could take the order over the phone and match the price.

That was three days ago. I then received a notification email that they had cancelled the item and asking for our input. SO, I responded to the email with basically what I have typed above this. That was also three days ago.

Moral of the story is that Academy doesn't seem to care about taking care of customers or providing decent customer service when there is an issue. Won't be shopping there any more.

Treadmill disappointment

Bought a treadmill at the Mt. Juliet store.

Of course a second party would deliver and assemble. Academy took no responsibility for their vendor. 3 to 5 days turned into 10. Cost me 50 extra dollars for stairs.

Would not take the box it came in, left it to me to dispose of, worse of ALL, it was broken. We will come back with the parts to fix by Monday or Tuesday. OF COURSE it is Tuesday and I have called 3 times. NOTHING.

At this point I am just pissed and will never buy from the ACADEMY sport store again. OH, yea they marked up my walls and I had to paint the walls...which I would be OK with if my Treadmill worked.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I purchased a jacket online. It took 2 weeks to get a shopping confirmation which is a long time and oddly it didn't come with a shipping tracking information. It took over a week to get here. Opened the package and they sent me wrong size! This is a Christmas gift! So I tried calling their customer service to start a return and was on hold for over 45 minutes before I lost my mind and hung up! Tried their chat feature and 15 minutes later was connected with someone who didn't seem American. Told them my issue and she said she was emailing me a return label. Fine. I waited and waited. No email. Called and called again today with nobody picking up after being on hold. Tried chat feature twice more. Once said they were sending return label and never came and second time they hung up on me. I'm done! I tried. Finally called my credit card and they filed a dispute and credited me my charges. Got an email 2 hours later the dispute was decided in my favor. I should have read all the horrid reviews before purchasing from Academy Sports! NEVER AGAIN!
